Why plant shops stock it
Its near-black leaves shine like metal without feeling waxy, and the wavy edges make it easy to recognise. It stays compact and grows slowly, which suits terrariums, shelves and small display spaces.
Keep it out of direct sun: strong light fades the dark colour that makes it special.

How we pack it
Plants are cleaned, treated against pests at the quarantine office and packed bare-root in sphagnum moss, or in tissue for countries that do not accept moss, inside ventilated boxes.
Care after arrival
- Potting: pot it within a day of arrival in a light, well-draining aroid mix and keep it slightly moist, not wet, for the first two weeks.
- Light: bright, indirect light. Direct sun fades the colour and can scorch the leaves.
- Water: water when the top 2–3 cm of the mix is dry. Soggy soil causes root rot.
- Humidity and warmth: 60% humidity or more and temperatures above 18 °C (65 °F).
- Pets: like most aroids, the sap contains calcium oxalate and irritates pets if chewed. Keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
