Who contract growing is for

Contract growing makes sense when you need large, regular volumes over a long period. For smaller or one-off orders, the wholesale catalog is the better fit.

Plant shops and chains

A steady supply of the same popular species every month, so your shelves stay full without buying from several growers.

Nurseries and growers

Rooted cuttings and young plants to grow on and finish in your own nursery, at a lower cost than producing them yourself.

Landscape and hospitality projects

Plants grown to a schedule for resorts, developments and public spaces, delivered in phases as the project moves.

Importers and distributors

Regular air cargo programs with fixed volumes, so you can plan sales and import permits a year or more ahead.

How a contract works

Every project starts with your requirements. Nothing is fixed until we have agreed a production plan together.

  1. Step 1

    Send your requirements

The species or plant types, sizes, monthly quantities, destination country and when you want the first delivery.

  2. Step 2

    We plan and quote

We check capacity and propagation time, then send a production plan with a price per plant for each size and the shipping options.

  3. Step 3

    Trial shipment

A smaller first shipment lets you check quality, packing and import clearance before the contract starts.

  4. Step 4

    Sign the contract

Duration, monthly volumes, species mix, delivery schedule, payment terms and a regular price review.

  5. Step 5

    Grow and ship on schedule

We propagate in our greenhouse in Blitar and with partner growers, and ship each batch with its export documents.

What sets the price

Contract prices are lower than catalog prices because we plan production around your volumes. The price per plant depends on:

  • The species and how quickly it can be propagated
  • The size at shipping: rooted cutting, plug or young plant
  • Volume and contract length: larger, longer contracts cost less per plant
  • How often the species mix changes
  • Packing and shipping method, and any extra import requirements

For common, fast-growing species in small sizes on a long-term contract, prices can go below US$2 per plant. We send a quotation for your exact list.

Planning and changing species

You can change the species mix during the contract. Propagation takes time, so changes are planned a few months ahead and come into effect in the next production cycle.

Capacity of up to 10,000 plants a month is shared across species. Slow-growing or rare species take more space and time, so the possible volume depends on what you need. We confirm what is realistic before the contract starts.

Shipping and import

Plants travel bare-root, with the roots wrapped in moist sphagnum moss or tissue, in ventilated boxes. Every shipment includes an export permit and a phytosanitary certificate from the Indonesian quarantine agency. Contract volumes usually go by air cargo; samples and trial shipments by DHL Express.

Large shipments often need an import permit and inspection on arrival, and some countries require post-entry quarantine. In the United States every order needs a USDA import permit (PPQ 587). We check the rules for your country with you before the contract starts; see plant import permits by country.

Questions about contract growing

What is the minimum for a contract?

There is no fixed minimum. Contract growing works best for large, regular volumes over a longer period, and the contract details are agreed when we start working together. Tell us what you need and we tell you whether a contract or the wholesale catalog fits better.

Which species can you grow?

Most tropical foliage plants that grow in East Java: philodendron, syngonium, scindapsus, pothos, hoya, alocasia, aglaonema and many more. Send your list and we confirm what we can produce and in which sizes.

Can we change species during the contract?

Yes. Changes are planned a few months ahead because propagation takes time, and they take effect in the next production cycle.

How is the price set?

Per project, based on the species, sizes, volumes, contract length and shipping method. For common species in small sizes on long contracts, prices can go below US$2 per plant.

Can we start with a trial?

Yes. We recommend a smaller trial shipment before the contract starts, so you can check quality, packing and import clearance.

How are payment and losses in transit handled?

Payment is by Wise or bank wire transfer. The payment schedule and how plants lost in transit are handled are agreed in each contract.

Can you ship contract volumes to the United States?

Yes, with a USDA import permit (PPQ 587); large shipments are inspected on arrival. We check the requirements with you before the contract starts.

Tell us about your project
