Why plant shops stock it

In the wild it vines up large trees in humid forest. The thick leaves store water, so it needs watering less often than thin-leaved plants. See also the green form.

How we pack it

Plants are cleaned, treated against pests at the quarantine office and packed bare-root in sphagnum moss, or in tissue for countries that do not accept moss, inside ventilated boxes.

Care after arrival

  • Potting: pot it within a day of arrival in a chunky, fast-draining mix of bark, perlite and a little coco or moss.
  • Light: bright, indirect light; more light, short of direct midday sun, encourages flowering.
  • Water: let the mix dry most of the way between waterings. The thick leaves store water, so underwatering is safer than overwatering.
  • Humidity: it grows well at average room humidity and faster above 60%.
  • Support: let it trail from a basket or train it on a hoop or trellis.
