The red-purple edging intensifies in good light, which makes Hoya sp. Mamasa a colourful alternative to plain green hoyas. Its thick leaves store water, so it needs only moderate watering and does well in humid conditions.

How we pack it

Plants are cleaned, treated against pests at the quarantine office and packed bare-root in sphagnum moss, or in tissue for countries that do not accept moss, inside ventilated boxes.

Care after arrival

  • Potting: pot it within a day of arrival in a chunky, fast-draining mix of bark, perlite and a little coco or moss.
  • Light: bright, indirect light; more light, short of direct midday sun, encourages flowering.
  • Water: let the mix dry most of the way between waterings. The thick leaves store water, so underwatering is safer than overwatering.
  • Humidity: it grows well at average room humidity and faster above 60%.
  • Support: let it trail from a basket or train it on a hoop or trellis.
