Why plant shops stock it
Bagaskara has velvety black leaves lit up by a pink central vein. It grows fast in warm conditions and sells well alongside Red Devil and Nirmala. See our full Colocasia range.

How we pack it
Plants are cleaned, treated against pests at the quarantine office and packed bare-root in sphagnum moss, or in tissue for countries that do not accept moss, inside ventilated boxes.
Care after arrival
- Potting: pot it within a day of arrival in a light, well-draining aroid mix and keep it slightly moist, not wet, for the first two weeks.
- Light: bright light; dark leaves colour best with some gentle sun.
- Water: keep the mix evenly moist; Colocasia like plenty of water while growing.
- Warmth: warm conditions; growth slows in cool weather and plants may rest in winter.
- Pets: like most aroids, the sap contains calcium oxalate and irritates pets if chewed. Keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
