Lobed, variegated Philodendron are a strong seller, and Golden Dragon stays manageable for its size, so it suits both shop floors and larger terrariums. Give it a pole to climb and the leaves size up and lobe more deeply.

How we pack it

Plants are cleaned, treated against pests at the quarantine office and packed bare-root in sphagnum moss, or in tissue for countries that do not accept moss, inside ventilated boxes.

Care after arrival

  • Potting: pot it within a day of arrival in a light, well-draining aroid mix and keep it slightly moist, not wet, for the first two weeks.
  • Light: bright, indirect light. Direct sun fades the colour and can scorch the leaves.
  • Water: water when the top 2–3 cm of the mix is dry. Soggy soil causes root rot.
  • Humidity and warmth: 60% humidity or more and temperatures above 18 °C (65 °F).
  • Support: a moss pole or plank for climbing.
  • Pets: like most aroids, the sap contains calcium oxalate and irritates pets if chewed. Keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
